Fabian von Spreckelsen
A deep interest in the relationship between mankind and the natural elements that surround us – the constructed environment’s interplay with unspoiled nature – lays the foundation for Fabian von Spreckelsen’s body of work. This profound fascination was instilled in the German-born, Netherlands-based artist by his father, a biologist, during his formative years. Von Spreckelsen’s sculptural geometric pieces, featuring clear-cut and simplified lines that reference flora and fauna, are an ode to nature.
A graduate of the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts, von Spreckelsen works mainly in metal. Rusted corten steel, in which he has constructed the Cortina collection for Domani, possesses the antipodes of evanescence and strength that von Spreckelsen explores in his artistry.
